"Selective Silence of Celebrities on National Crises is Deeply Disturbing," Says Dr. Anthony Raju, Advocate – Supreme Court & Chairman, Indian National Human Rights Protection Council

New Delhi, 16 May 2025 – Speaking at the National Conference on Tolerance and Civilization, renowned human rights defender and Supreme Court Advocate Dr. Anthony Raju strongly criticized the conspicuous silence of India’s top celebrities — from the film industry, cricketing world, corporate circles, and public life — on grave national matters.

Referring to incidents like Pulwama, Pahalgam, and other issues that touch the very soul of the nation, Dr. Raju said:

> “It is truly shocking that those who have earned name, fame, and massive wealth from this country — with the love and admiration of the people — have repeatedly chosen silence when the nation bleeds or demands moral courage.”

He further remarked:

> “Are these celebrities only meant to entertain the masses, endorse brands, and collect awards like Padma Shri and Bharat Ratna — while staying completely disconnected from the real pain, sacrifice, and struggles of the common Indian?”

Dr. Raju called for greater accountability and public awareness, urging the youth and civil society to recognize the difference between genuine public figures and self-serving stardom.

> “In times of national crisis, true character is revealed. Silence is not neutrality — it is complicity.”

Dr. Anthony Raju, apart from being a seasoned advocate at the Supreme Court of India, is a globally recognized voice in human rights, heading multiple national and international councils focused on justice, peace, and public accountability.
